What is Tongdang?
"Tong" is the Thai
word for gold.
"Dang" is the color red.
When used together, Tongdang
is used to describe the metal commonly known as copper. We chose
to use it for its symbolic represenation of the vibrant flavor
and color of Thai food. It also represents good fortune, for
copper was used to create the first coins used for money.
Our dining room boasts bold red
accents with hints of copper and gold. There are several antique
pieces that add to the Asian mystique of Tongdang.

Thai gold leaf lacquer paneling

Thai laquerware is most prevalent
in the Northern regions of Thailand. High quality laquerware is
comprised of at least seven coats of lacquer, allowed to dry one
week between coats. This piece depicts a scene of traditional
Thai temple life. There are numerous monks shown praying and images
of people making offerings to bhudda.

from use. But the texture is smooth and pleasant. Place a takeout
